Frequently Asked Question

How do I set an e-mail alias?
Last Updated 3 years ago

This guide is for domain administrators. Aliases forĀ @gewis.nl e-mails are managed by the CBC.

Mail aliases are addresses which are not associated with storage or a login. Instead, they forward email to another address (either a mailbox on the server, a mail alias on the server or an external address). They can also forward to multiple addresses (for simple mailing lists).
Setting the destination of a mail alias to a mailbox on the server allows that mailbox to send mail from the aliases address. This allows you to have the mailbox firstname@demodispuut.nl which is able to send from both its own private address as well as another, such as chairman@demodispuut.nl.

First, login at theĀ domain administrator portal.

Creating an alias

  1. On the main screen go to the Aliases tab
  2. Press the 'Add alias' button
  3. Fill in the information
    1. The alias should include the @domain.nl
  4. Click 'add'
  5. Good practice, but not needed
    1. Click 'edit' on the newly created alias
    2. In the private comment when it was created and how long it should last
    3. In the public comment add why it was created
